School Photos

I have such a love/hate relationship with the yearly school photo.  Well, maybe love is too strong of a word, it's more of a resigned relationship.

Because I started collecting the yearly picture when the girls were in Kindergarten, and I wanted to have a complete set for them when they graduated from high school, I am kind of stuck paying for the picture each year.  Which is never cheap.  And suddenly needs to be paid for BEFORE the shutter is even snapped.  How, in the name of all that is sacred, can anyone decide whether they want a photo before it is even snapped?  Especially since they only take 1!

But I have resigned myself to the fact that this is just one of those things I will do for the next couple of years.  And someday, I may actually be surprised by a really fabulous photo.  This was not the year.  Don't get me wrong.  My girls are incredible, and they usually photograph well - just not when they have .0001 seconds to put themselves together after a full day of school.  Who would?  And this one of MadHatter...

She was mid-blink when they took it (and that frizzy hair).  But there are no second shots, and now she has to wear this photo on her lanyard ID for the next year.  She is not pleased about it, but she does find it sort of humorous.  And the fact that no one else's is really any better makes it ok.

Stinkerbell fared a little better in the hair and not blinking department.  But if they could just get her to not make the crazy Jack Nicholson face, I would love it.
