A Disney Surprise

Sunday, November 11, 2018

We had been home a whole month, and I was already itching for some adventure.  And then Nana and Grampa had mentioned that they were going to head up to Disney World to make use of their season passes for the long weekend and I knew I had a plan in progress. A little bit of research later, we all had seasons passes (an early Christmas present) and hotel reservations.  But I didn't tell the girls where we were going because what a fun surprise, right?  I did tell them that we would be going to see Nana and Grampa though so they wouldn't be suspicious when we got in the car and drove away right after school on Friday.

Friday came, we hopped in the car and took off.  But no one noticed we were heading North instead of West, which is where Nana and Grampa lived.  I didn't say a word and just kept driving.  After about 2 hours, I thought one of the girls would start asking questions about why we hadn't gotten there yet.  Nana and Grampa are only about an hour and 45 minutes from us.  No questions from the littles in the back that were pretty engrossed in watching a movie together.  I expected someone to notice the signs that were becoming more and more frequent announcing Disney World X-miles.  Not a peep from the backseat.  Finally, Grampa called just about the time we were getting really close and about to enter under the arches that said DISNEY WORLD so large even they couldn't miss it.  I put him on speaker phone, and he asked, "Have they figured it out yet?"  A big nope from me.  And then all you could hear was their wonder at why that said Disney right ahead of them. Followed by squeals of happiness and laughter.  Finally!

We made it just in time to catch the Rivers of Light Lagoon show, which was spectacular!

Highly recommend!
